FAM bins Selangor FC appeal, maintains empty stadium, fine penalties

SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — Selangor FC’s (SFC) has failed in its appeal against penalties imposed against it over its supporters’ actions during the FA Cup 2025-2026 quarter final match against Negeri Sembilan on October 29.

In a statement today, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said its appeals committee maintained the disciplinary committee’s decision.

The decision means SFC must play two tournaments without spectators on home turf in the FA Cup — the semi final match against Sabah FC on November 30 and the first match next season — and a fine of RM100,000.

“Selangor FC was appealing against their penalties, which were imposed after they were found guilty in a case involving their supporters’ actions and their failure to adhere to organiser obligations during the FA Cup 2025-2025 quarter final match.

“The punishment to play without spectators for two matches on home turf for the FA Cup, which would be the semi final FA Cup 2025-2026, Selangor FC v Sabah FC, at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, on Sunday, November 30, as well as Selangor FC’s first match on home turf for the next FA Cup season, and a RM100,000 fine meted by the FAM disciplinary committee on Friday, November 14, is maintained,” it said.

SFC was penalised over five accusations made during its match against Negeri Sembilan at the MBPJ Stadium on October 29 — including the use of firecrackers, the vandalism and throwing of stools and water bottles, provocation among spectators, and the failure to observe safety obligations before, during, and after the match.

FAM disciplinary committee chair Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu said SFC was found guilty under Article 70 (Paragraphs 1 and 3) and Article 68 read with Article 69 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
