SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — The state government is closely monitoring the flood situation in several districts following continuous rainfall since last night, and has instructed its state executive councillors (exco) and relevant officials to go to the ground to assist victims.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they are updating the latest developments to ensure immediate action can be taken to help affected residents.
“I am also awaiting reports regarding the flood situation. We will request that all officers and relevant parties, including exco members, go down to attend to the victims.
"We want to assess the extent of the impact of this situation. We are monitoring the rainfall as it is expected to continue until tomorrow.
"We are also closely monitoring water levels in the state’s dams to ensure they remain under control and prevent any untoward incidents. At the moment, the levels are quite stable, but we are monitoring them from time to time,” he told the press after launching the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2025-2035 today.
Amirudin added that the state government will issue an official statement this afternoon regarding follow-up actions in response to the floods.
Earlier, it was reported that five temporary relief centres (PPS) were opened in Selangor following floods that hit several areas due to continuous rain since yesterday evening.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Disaster Info portal, as of 1pm, five PPS have been opened across four districts to accommodate 110 victims from 30 families.
They include Dewan Sri Sekinchan and Dewan Sri Bernam (Sabak Bernam), JKKK Kampung Jaya Setia Service Centre (Bestari Jaya), SK Sungai Serai (Hulu Langat), and Masjid Al-Falah Kampung Budiman (Shah Alam).
