IPOH, Nov 21 — The police have busted a burglary ring known as 'Ismail Gang', arresting 11 suspects, including four women, believed to be behind a string of house break-ins across central Perak since May.
Central Perak Police chief Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said all suspects were nabbed at 9pm on November 9, following a report lodged by a homeowner who returned from holiday to find the house ransacked.
“Among the missing items were four gold necklaces, five gold chains, four gold bracelets, 12 gold rings, two pairs of gold earrings, five gold dinar coins, five mobile phones, and about RM2,000 in cash.
“The total loss, including cash and stolen jewellery, is estimated at RM70,000,” he said in a statement today.
Hafezul added that they also seized items believed to be proceeds from the sale of stolen goods, including RM7,700 in cash, nine mobile phones, five motorcycles, two gold bars weighing 15g, and a Proton Waja.
Six investigation papers have been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, and all six received instructions to prosecute.
