SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — The state government is accelerating its artificial intelligence (AI) agenda through a series of initiatives to boost Selangor’s digital capabilities.
These include a strategic partnership with Google Cloud Malaysia and the development of its first Selangor AI White Paper, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han.
“As an initial step in developing AI in Selangor, the state government, through the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC), has established a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud Malaysia to implement the Teraju AI Selangor programme,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.
Ng added that the partnership aims to modernise government systems, improve project monitoring and financial controls, and strengthen data processing across state agencies.
The collaboration also explores AI applications to enhance public administration, including improving existing systems without disrupting prior practices and introducing technology upgrades in areas like project KPI tracking, financial management, and data-driven governance.
On the Selangor AI White Paper, which is being prepared, he said the document will outline the state’s long-term AI vision, policy requirements, and implementation framework.
“The preparation of the white paper must detail clear plans and targets so that it aligns with the National AI Roadmap 2021-2025 and the Malaysia AI Technology Action Plan 2026-2030,” Ng said.
Earlier, the councillor said Selangor has already taken several active and strategic steps to advance its AI initiatives, in line with the national roadmap, including the establishment of a committee to guide and monitor AI projects and support the state’s AI ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Ng said Selangor will adopt the Federal government’s MyDigital ID initiative across all levels of state administration.
“Last week, the State Executive Council meeting received a briefing from the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) on its implementation, and the council has agreed to adopt MyDigital ID at all levels in Selangor,” he said.
Ng described the move as an important step to strengthen cooperation between the Federal and state governments.
“This is a good initiative where both governments will work together to ensure the success of MyDigital ID,” he said.
