SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — On October 22, 80 students from Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah in Sabak Bernam, together with 30 invited participants and representatives, took part in the Stargazing and Mobile Astrophotography Competition organised by the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) initiative at the Selangor Observatory.
Running from October 21 to October 22, participants enjoyed a range of activities, including night-sky observation sessions and basic smartphone astrophotography training, while camping overnight to experience the authentic atmosphere of stargazing.
The programme coincided with the Orionids meteor shower, and although the weather was partly cloudy, participants remained enthusiastic, using the SkyView app to identify star positions and meteor paths.
The competition not only introduced participants to the fundamentals of mobile astronomy photography but also inspired deeper interest in astronomy, science, and the wonders of the universe.
