MELAKA, Nov 6 — Over 950,000 civil service retirees will benefit from Phase Two adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) from January 2026 onwards, said Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.

This simultaneously proves the government's commitment to appreciating retirees who have served the people in their respective fields.

“The first phase has been implemented, and InsyaAllah (God willing), we will wait until January for the second phase to begin, and retirees will enjoy the adjustment of their pensions.

"So it is very clear that although they have retired from the government service, their welfare is still given priority," he told the press after the outreach programme for ailing pensioners in conjunction with a working visit to Melaka at Kampung Pulau Kelapa, Batu Hampar Peringgit today.

Earlier, Wan Dahlan visited and donated an electric wheelchair to Azhar Hashim, 63, who served in the Melaka Finance and Treasury Department before retiring in 2009 due to health reasons.

He also visited and presented a donation of a bed to the 63-year-old retired Melaka Immigration Department officer Bakhri Tamby Ali, who suffers from kidney and heart problems, at Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruang.

In August last year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that officers from the Implementing, Management, and Professional groups who opt for the SSPA scheme will receive a phased salary adjustment of 15 per cent, with eight per cent for Phase One in December 2024 and seven per cent for Phase Two in January 2026.

For the Senior Management Group (SMG), they will receive a seven per cent salary adjustment, with four per cent for Phase One and three per cent for Phase Two, while Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) retirees who retired before January 2013 will receive a second adjustment of seven per cent.
