‘Selangor has complete ecosystem for large-scale investments’

KLANG, Nov 6 — Malaysia’s political stability and strong ringgit are drawing more large-scale investments to the country, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said this requires Selangor to provide a complete, comfortable job ecosystem, in line with the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) that emphasises the people’s well-being.

“We need a strong, sustainable ecosystem. Next year, we will start the RS-2, towards a more prosperous, smart and liveable Selangor, not just progressive or full of technology and AI applications, but a state that is comfortable to live in, affordable facilities, and high income offers for the people.

“I’m confident we’re on the right track. Selangor isn’t just an investor’s dream destination, but a smart state with good governance,” he said at the launch of Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ) Teratai in Meru here today.

Since its launch in July 2022, the RS-1 has been the main frame shaping a sustainable economy to boost the people’s well-being, including its goal to contribute 30 per cent of Malaysia’s gross domestic product by 2025.

The RS-1 also encompasses large-scale strategic projects, such as the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) and Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss), to face the global economy that is expected to slow next year.

Meanwhile, the RS-2, which will be tabled in June, brings several new agendas including making the state a metropolitan city by 2029 and improving public transport connectivity in northern and southern Selangor.
