KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) rose 1.0 per cent in the third quarter (3Q) of 2025, maintaining the same rate of increase as in the 2Q 2025, said Statistics Department (DOSM) today.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the accommodation and food and beverage service activities index increased by 3.4 per cent compared to a 3.6 per cent increase in the previous quarter, driven by the restaurants and mobile food service activities index (4.0 per cent) and the beverage service activities index (3.0 per cent).
The other indices that recorded increases were education (1.4 per cent), health (0.7 per cent), and professional (0.6 per cent).
The transportation and real estate activities indices recorded an increase of 0.5 per cent, while the arts, entertainment, and recreation index registered a modest increase of 0.4 per cent, compared to 4.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
“In contrast, the information and communication index recorded a marginal decrease of 0.1 per cent, after posting unchanged in the previous quarter, influenced by declines in the wireless telecommunications activities (-0.1 per cent) and computer programming, consultancy, and related activities (-0.1 per cent),” he said in a statement.
Uzir added that on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the SPPI eased by 0.1 per cent compared to 0.3 per cent in the previous quarter.
The SPPI’s increase in 2Q was mainly contributed by the accommodation and food and beverage service activities (0.7 per cent), transportation (0.6 per cent), and education (0.3 per cent).
