SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 — Funds for Selangor’s Higher Learning Institution Incentive Award (HPIPT) should be increased to lighten students’ burdens, suggested Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Adzmi.
He said the existing RM1,000 aid should be raised to RM1,500 plus a free laptop.
“These students are just now entering university and definitely face high costs. I hope the HPIPT can be retained or increased, including with the provision of laptops.
“I also hope the state government can prepare special funds to repair or upgrade the infrastructure for Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Classes (KAFA),” he told Media Selangor.
Abbas Salimmi also urged more efforts to encourage electric vehicle (EV) use, including by making them official vehicles.
“This move is in line with efforts towards sustainable development and environmental conservation,” he said.
The 2026 Selangor Budget will be tabled on November 14 at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
