KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — A fire broke out at the Petronas Tower 3 here this morning, involving a restaurant located on the upper floor of the building.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Hassan 'As'ari Omar confirmed the incident and said that no casualties have been reported so far.
He added that fire engines and personnel had been dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Sentul Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafizan Hassan said they received a distress call at 6.41 am and dispatched a team to the location.
"The Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre also sent fire engines from the Tun Razak and Hang Tuah BBP, as well as 35 personnel, to the scene,” he said.
According to him, the fire affected 30 per cent of the restaurant on the 57th floor of the building.
"The blaze was brought under control at 7.04am and was finally extinguished at 8.45am. There were no casualties, and we are now conducting investigations at the building,” he said.
He added that their personnel had entered the building using the firefighters’ lift and put out the blaze using the wet riser system.
Meanwhile, KLCC Property Holdings Berhad (KLCCP) confirmed that a fire broke out at 6.43am today.
It said in a statement that the authorities will carry out further investigations into the incident.
