SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has cemented its position as a premier local authority by receiving the Level 2 (Developing Smart City) award in conjunction with World Urbanism Day.
The honour was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to Shah Alam Mayor Daot’ Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim at the National Town Planning Congress and MyCity Expo at Dewan Seri Siantan in Putrajaya on Tuesday.
The prestigious award was given according to 35 smart city indicators based on the Malaysian Standard (MS) ISO, which comprehensively evaluates the effectiveness of smart city initiative implementation.
In a statement, the MBSA said the honour reflects its continuous commitment to implement its digital and technology-based governance transformation agenda for the well-being of Shah Alam residents.
“This award proves MBSA’s continuous efforts to strengthen services, improve the efficiency of delivery systems, and widen smart infrastructure that supports sustainable development goals,” it said.
The council added that the recognition has boosted its role in realising Malaysia’s smart city agenda and supporting the aspirations of Smart Nation 2040.
Previously, the Delivery and Governance System Reform (RSTU) was introduced to ensure the state’s administration is more efficient, impactful, and aligned with smart city development statewide.
