SUNGAI PETANI, Oct 28 — The Magistrate’s Court has ordered two students of a secondary school who pleaded guilty to a charge of causing hurt to a schoolmate to be placed on a two-year good behaviour bond each.
During the ruling today, Magistrate Mohamad Azlan Basri also ordered the boys, both aged 15 and in Form Three, to report to a nearby Social Welfare Department (JKM) office once a month during the bond period, accompanied by their respective biological mothers.
The duo were charged with voluntarily causing injury to a 16-year-old male student in the school hall at 12.15pm on July 21.
The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, but offenders aged 18 and above can be punished under the Child Act 2001 as a form of rehabilitation.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Hazwani Md Nor, while the two students were unrepresented.
