Body in suitcase: Police looking for 'Ong Wei Hai' to assist investigation

BUTTERWORTH, Oct 28 — The police are searching for a local man to assist in investigations into the murder of a man who was stuffed in a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar Flats, Permatang Pauh, on October 9.

Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district police chief ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman said the man was identified as Ong Wei Hai, 41, and that his last address was A-7-07, Villa Tanjung, Jalan Villa Tanjung, in Butterworth.

"The police are appealing for the cooperation of the public who have information about the man or the case to contact case investigation officer ASP Norhaslinda Rahmat at 04-576 2222 (ext. 2275) or any nearest police station to assist in the investigation," he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On Wednesday (October 22), the police made separate arrests of two men and two women, all aged 24 to 42, at several locations in Penang and Perak to assist in the investigation.

It was previously reported that the discovery of a man's body stuffed in a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar Flats, and he was later identified as Lee Boon Han, 31, who was reported missing by his family on October 8.
