Azri Zainal: Yayasan MBI aims to expand educational aid,

GOMBAK, Oct 26 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI wishes to broaden the reach of its educational assistance next year to ensure more students benefit from the state government’s initiatives.

Its head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said he is confident that the upcoming 2026 Selangor Budget will continue to place strong emphasis on the education sector, as in previous years, which have prioritised human capital development.

“There are various forms of educational support, including the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme, the ‘Back to School’ initiative, the provision of devices for university students, and many others.

“We are working closely with the state government through the education portfolio for better coordination and greater impact,” he said.

Azri added that the foundation is identifying groups of students who have yet to receive state educational assistance to be included in next year’s outreach.

“I am confident (of this), and the Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has also hinted that education will receive a significant allocation next year.

“For instance, there are sectors we have yet to reach, like Form Six and polytechnic students. These are among the groups that will be prioritised so they too can benefit from Yayasan MBI’s educational aid,” he said.

Azri was speaking to the press after officiating a Yayasan MBI contribution ceremony for storm victims and asnaf (zakat recipients) at Dewan Komuniti Kampung Wira Damai today.

In the 2025 Selangor Budget, the state government allocated RM96.4 million for education, including financial assistance, skills training programmes, and the provision of learning facilities.

Previously, Amirudin announced that the 2026 Selangor Budget would focus on introducing new education-based and poverty-eradication programmes to ensure the people progress in tandem with the state’s development.
