KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will implement phased traffic diversions and dispersal measures across several major roads in the capital from 8am to 7.45pm tomorrow, in conjunction with a full rehearsal for the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the ongoing rehearsals, set to continue until Friday (October 24), are a critical part of ensuring the smooth and orderly movement of official delegations during the actual event.
“As such, the public is advised to avoid the affected routes during the rehearsal, follow the instructions of traffic personnel and temporary signboards, and also to consider using public transport,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
Yusri added that road closures will occur only twice during the day, from 8am to 8.45am and from 7pm to 7.45pm, to ensure flawless execution of route management, personnel deployment, and convoy movements for the international delegates.
He said that 1,111 traffic police officers and personnel have been deployed for the purposes, and they will be responsible for traffic control, VIP escort duties, and enforcement operations throughout the summit period.
