Police: Stop speculation on mother-daughter's murder

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct 21 — The public has been asked to stop spreading speculation which could interfere with police investigations on the murder of a mother and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru on Saturday (October 18).

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said they are currently conducting detailed investigations into the case, including identifying the real perpetrators and the motive for the murder, and need more time to conduct a thorough investigation.

“I also want to advise the public to stop speculating or spreading false information that could affect the investigation,” he said when contacted today.

In the incident, Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found in a grotesque, heartbreaking condition in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru, believed to be the victims of murder.

The woman's body was found in the kitchen on the ground floor of the house, while her daughter's body was recovered from the top floor of the rented house.

So far, three individuals, namely the victim's 57-year-old husband and two other men, including a Bangladeshi national, have been remanded for investigations.

Meanwhile, Azizee denied the claim that the incident was caused by a love triangle, as was being spread on social media.

He added that the arrest of the three individuals was for investigation from various angles to unravel the case being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
