GOMBAK, Oct 17 — The prices of essential goods for the Deepavali celebration are being offered at significantly lower rates via the Madani Rahmah Sales programme at 124 locations across Selangor this week.
Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the programme runs from yesterday to Wednesday (October 22) to enable the public to enjoy discounts of at least 30 per cent compared to market prices.
“For example, TF Value Mart in Batu Caves is also participating in this initiative by offering 27 items at Rahmah prices. These include rice, cooking oil, flour, and sugar,” he said during a press conference on the KPDN Selangor Price Monitoring Coverage at TF Value Mart in Batu Caves today.
Zuhairi added that the programme, which has been running throughout this year, is part of the government’s efforts to help the people cope with the rising cost of living.
As of 30 September, 2,419 Madani Rahmah Sales have been held across Selangor with subsidies amounting to nearly RM15 million.
“We want more people to take advantage of this opportunity to purchase essential goods at affordable prices, especially during the festive season,” he said.
