Bandar Utama school stabbing: Victim's mother says daughter was athletic, disciplined

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The mother of the Form Four student who was fatally stabbed at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday (October 14) described her youngest daughter as a quiet person who was active in sports and highly disciplined.

Wong Lee Ping said that before the tragic incident, her daughter had won second place in a badminton tournament held in the capital.

“She was disciplined and active in sports despite being an introvert. She was good at planning her schedule and managing the programmes she needed to attend.

“She also respected us as her parents and respected others,” she said during a press conference at the Nirvana Centre, Kuala Lumpur, today. Also present was Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.

On Tuesday, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that a 16-year-old female student was fatally stabbed by a 14-year-old male student on the school grounds at 9.30am. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the same time, Wong appealed to the public not to spread false information on social media regarding the case and expressed hope that no similar tragedy would occur at any school in the future.

She also advised the public not to alter or misuse the QR code donation poster that had been shared, adding that those who wish to contribute may do so at the Nirvana Centre.

The victim’s remains are expected to be cremated on Monday (October 20).
