Allow police space to investigate, Selangor to announce support aid tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, Oct 16 — The state government has urged the public to allow the police sufficient space to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragic murder case involving a student at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday (October 14) morning.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they are also prepared to offer psychological assistance to the victim’s family, along with other forms of support that will be detailed during the State Executive Council (MMKN) meeting tomorrow.

“Let the police take the time needed to investigate. We will also try to give the family some space.

"If psychological support is required, we can help. These are among the follow-up measures.

“In the MMKN meeting, we will discuss what can be done and what long-term steps should be taken, especially since this incident occurred at a school and could potentially happen elsewhere,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press after officiating the Selangor Sagong Tasi Excellence Awards 2025 ceremony at the State Secretariat Building today.

He also expressed appreciation to the management of Nirvana Memorial Park for offering free facilities for the victim’s burial arrangements as a gesture of compassion towards the bereaved family.

“We extend our gratitude to Nirvana Memorial for providing free funeral services for the victim, made possible through our engagement with Nirvana and the affected family,” Amirudin said.

In the 9.30am incident, a 14-year-old male student reportedly stabbed a 16-year-old female student in one of the school’s girls' toilet.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days until Tuesday (October 21) to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

A final memorial service is being held at the Nirvana Centre along Jalan Dewan Bahasa in Kuala Lumpur, from today until Monday (October 20), with the final prayer service scheduled for Monday morning before the remains are brought to the Nirvana Crematorium in Shah Alam.
