Four arrested in another school gang rape case

SHAH ALAM, Oct 16 — Another school gang rape case has emerged, this time in Baling, Kedah, resulting in the arrest of four teenagers, including three students.

Baling acting police chief Ahmad Salimi Md Ali said the teenagers were detained on suspicion of involvement in the gang rape and for distributing obscene material on social media.

He was quoted by the media as saying police received a report from a 53-year-old complainant on Sunday around 11am after being informed by a school discipline teacher about the circulation of a video showing his naked child.

The three students from the school and one former student were subsequently arrested at 9.30pm the same day to assist in the probe.

“Further investigations found that the four suspects were involved in sexual acts, including gang rape, between May and August at several locations within the school premises,” he said.

All suspects have been remanded for five days from the date of their arrest, and six mobile phones were seized for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape and the Child Act 2001 for distributing child pornography.

This comes hot on the heels of a gang rape case in Alor Gajah, Melaka, earlier this month, where a female student was assaulted by four male students, with the act recorded on a mobile phone by two of the suspects.

The incident came to light after the victim’s mother was informed by a teacher about the circulation of the video, prompting her to lodge a police report.
