PUTRAJAYA, Oct 15 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has urged the public to act responsibly and avoid sharing, reposting, or uploading any content, including images or videos, that show the victim, other students, or the location of the recent stabbing at a secondary school in Bandar Utama.
“Those who have already uploaded such content are advised to delete it immediately to respect the privacy and dignity of the victim’s family and to prevent interference with the ongoing investigation by the police,” MCMC said in a statement today.
MCMC expressed its condolences to the family of the 16-year-old girl who was killed in the incident.
The commission also said that distributing such content could lead to legal action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In the incident, which occurred around 9.30am yesterday, a Form 4 girl was allegedly stabbed by a Form 2 boy.
The victim died at the scene, while the 14-year-old suspect, a student at the same school, has been arrested, according to Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail.
