SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 — Police will hold a media conference today at 11.30am on the investigation into an incident where a 16-year-old girl was stabbed at her school in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Selangor police chief Dato’ Shazeli Kahar will lead the conference, which will be held at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters here.

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the 9.30am stabbing occurred at a school, and that the motive for the killing is being investigated.

A 14-year-old suspect is said to have used a knife to stab the victim.

At around 9.10am yesterday, a Form 1 boy had cornered a Form 4 girl at their school toilets. He pulled the victim into a cubicle before stabbing her several times with two sharp objects. The victim had screamed for help.

Several teachers rushed to the location upon hearing her screams and found the toilet cubicle locked. The door was then broken and they found the girl covered in blood.

The boy, however, had managed to run away, and threatened students in several classrooms without hurting anyone before he fled.

Teachers managed to calm him down, and the perpetrator’s brother wrested the weapon from his grasp.

Medical officers declared the victim dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

Police then arrested the suspect and seized both weapons used in the attack.
