SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The inaugural Shah Alam Urban Forum (SAUF) 2025, organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), is a vital platform bringing together stakeholders from the development, community, economic, and technology sectors to discuss the city’s future.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the forum, held in conjunction with MBSA’s 25th anniversary celebration, is not merely about showcasing parades or festivities but also focuses on the city’s long-term development direction.
“This programme discusses the city’s future and involves the community in jointly drafting a development plan for the next 25 to 30 years to ensure Shah Alam continues to progress as a sustainable city,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking to the press after officiating SAUF 2025 at the MBSA Convention Centre in Section 13 today.
He added that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as the foundation for MBSA’s efforts to build a low-carbon city and foster a carbon-neutral society.
“The challenge of sustainable development continues to receive emphasis, aligning with the global concept of urban development, often discussed in the World Urban Forum.
“Among the key focuses are moving towards a carbon-neutral society, maintaining harmony, and ensuring community participation in urban development,” Amirudin said.
Held under the theme 'Bandar Kita, Komuniti Kita', the two-day programme aims to position Shah Alam as a model reference for other cities in implementing sustainable, liveable urban development.
An estimated 2,000 participants are taking part in the event, which features various activities, including Local Perspectives Dialogue Sessions to discuss local issues and challenges, sustainable city development, improving community quality of life, and empowering society through digital and innovative approaches.
The forum also includes a City Strategy Session, focusing on collaboration between local governments, the private sector, and communities to realise Shah Alam’s vision of becoming a green and inclusive city by 2050.
