SEPANG, Oct 7 — Twenty-three Malaysian activists who joined the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission to break the siege on Palestine’s Gaza were set to touch down at 9.50pm tonight at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
“(The volunteers) will reach (Malaysia) at 9.50pm tonight on Emirates flight EK0342.
“A special press conference by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will be held at 11pm,” Foreign Ministry corporate communications head Zul Izwan Hamzah said during a briefing for the press at KLIA here tonight.
He added that for security reasons, only those with official media passes are allowed into the area.
The terminal is filled with well-wishers, who have been gathering since 6pm to show their support and solidarity for Palestinians.
Chants of “Allahuakbar” and “Free Palestine!” have been echoing across the arrival hall as appreciation for the heroes who were on the GSF mission.

12.05pm: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan during the press conference said the GSF volunteers’ successful return to home showcases the government’s commitment to ensuring Malaysians’ safety and welfare, wherever they may be.
11.32pm: The GSF volunteers entered the arrival hall to thunderous applause from attendees.
10.13pm: All 23 activists who were part of the GSF mission have arrived in Malaysia, reported Astro Awani.
10.07pm: The Flight Radar tracking website showed that Emirates flight EK342 landed at KLIA.
9.45pm: Families of the Malaysian GSF volunteers reached KLIA. They were taken on a special bus to the arrival hall.
