KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to attend Himpunan Solidariti Bersama Gaza rally at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, tomorrow at 8pm.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Anwar said the rally aims to unite Malaysians across all backgrounds in support of the Palestinian struggle, and to honour the 23 Malaysian humanitarian activists who participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission.
“Let us come together in one voice, shoulder to shoulder, to demand freedom, dignity, and sovereignty for Palestine,” he wrote.
Anwar expressed confidence that the spirit of justice and peace beats strongly in the hearts of every Malaysian.
“I believe that in the pulse of every Malaysian lies a deep resolve to champion global justice and peace. See you tomorrow night, God willing,” he said.
Earlier, one of the activists, Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, who is also CEO of Cinta Gaza Malaysia, posted on Facebook that they will reach Malaysia from Istanbul at 10pm tonight and will attend the rally at Axiata Arena tomorrow.
On October 2, 23 Malaysian activists under the GSF mission were detained by the Zionist regime’s military after their ships were intercepted in the waters of R3 Red Zone, the Mediterranean Sea. They were taken to the port of Ashdod, Israel.
The Malaysians were reportedly released from Israeli custody and departed Ramon Airport at 6.45pm Malaysian time yesterday, arriving in Istanbul at 8.40pm Malaysian time.
The Malaysians detained were singer Heliza Helmi and her sister, Nur Hazwani Afiqah, who were aboard the Hio; Nurfarahin Romli and Danish Nazran Murad who were aboard the Grande Blu; singer Zizi Kirana aboard the Huga; Musa Nuwayri, Iylia Balqis and Sul Aidil aboard the Alma; Haikal Abdullah, Muaz Zainal, Zulfadhli Khiduddin and Rusydi Ramli aboard the Sirius; Razali Awang on the Inana; influencer Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, also known as Ardell Aryana, on the Mikeno; PU Rahmat, Norhelmi Ab Ghani, Mohd Asmawi Mukhtar and Norazman Ishak aboard the Estrella; Zainal Rashid and Ustaz Muhammad on the Fair Lady; and Muhammad Hareez Adzrami, also known as Haroqs, Muhd Haikal Luqman Zulkefli and Taufiq Mohd Razif on the Free Willy.
