SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — The Election Commission (EC) today confirmed the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.
In a short statement, the EC said it would hold state elections as provided for under Article 21 Clause 4 of the Sabah Constitution.
The polls authority also said it would hold a special meeting to discuss important dates for the state election.
The Sabah assembly was dissolved yesterday to make way for the 17th state elections, after a period of uncertainty over when the last sitting was supposed to have been.
The assembly comprises 79 seats, representatives for 73 of which are elected, while six are appointed.
