MANILA, Oct 6 — The number of families affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rocked Bogo City, Cebu, and other nearby areas on Tuesday (September 30), has now reached over 155,000, according to the official government tally as of today.
The Philippine News Agency (PNA) quoted the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) report, which said that all the 155,094 affected families, or 547,394 individuals, are from Central Visayas.
72 people were reported killed and 559 others were reported injured, all undergoing validation and verification as of the time of the report.
It has yet to release estimates on the infrastructure and agriculture damage resulting from the earthquake.
Regarding assistance to the victims, the NDRRMC said that the Social Welfare and Development Department (DSWD) has already provided ₱93.52 million worth of food (RM6.76 million) and non-food items, with 187,858 families receiving family food packs as of yesterday
