SHAH ALAM, Sept 30 — The inaugural Selangor Youth Convention (SYC) focused on a wide range of content, including entrepreneurship, leadership, and sports.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the event, which gathered over 500 participants comprising youth leaders from universities, colleges, and secondary schools, also emphasised present and future challenges that demand both mental and physical strength.

“Selangor is an ageing state, and it is crucial to prepare successors who will be able to lead in the next 20 to 30 years.

“Therefore, we are holding this convention, which encompasses all aspects, to prepare a generation of young leaders who are not only involved in leadership but also in the corporate, education and economic fields,” he said.

Najwan was speaking after officiating the SYC, themed 'Planning the Generation, Shaping Civilisation' (Merencana Generasi, Membentuk Peradaban) at Dewan Raja Muda Musa today.

Earlier, among the convention’s sessions were a leadership forum with State Legislative Assembly Members, an entrepreneurship forum with business icons, as well as a youth and sports forum featuring renowned athletes, Selangor FC football players, and e-sports practitioners.

Those in attendance included footballer Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim, Batu Tiga state assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid, and entrepreneur and celebrity Datuk Rosyam Nor.

The councillor added that the SYC, organised by his office in collaboration with the Selangor State Sports Council, will continue next year with even more engaging content.

“Next year, we will organise it again by further expanding the programme…not just focusing on young people alone.

“We may broaden it by holding an entrepreneurship and sports carnival targeting greater participation,” he said.
