SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — Maintenance and beautification works in Klang in conjunction with the wedding of Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah are complete, said Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain.

The mayor said his team is ensuring everything is at its best before visitors attend the royal wedding.

“We have spent over RM3 million, including on LED light decorations, road upgrades such as interlocking work and road resurfacing.

“We will also be monitoring to prevent people from picking flowers or committing vandalism, so I also ask everyone to work together to ensure the city is always clean and tidy,” he said.

Hamid said this at a press conference today on preparations for the royal wedding ceremony here.

He said they expect over 2,000 visitors to attend the wedding, and advised people to arrive early and use public transport or carpool to avoid congestion.

He said only the route from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery to Istana Alam Shah will be closed at 7am on October 2 to make way for the procession, which starts at 9am.

“The Royal Malaysia Police will be on duty with a strength of 400 personnel, and MBDK will also assist if there are any related needs.

“MBDK will also provide 2,000 Selangor flags to the earliest visitors to wave at the Raja Muda of Selangor,” he said, adding that the public can park their vehicles at the Klang Komuter Station and Stadium Sultan Sulaiman.

Earlier today, Tengku Amir Shah presided over the rehearsal for His Highness’ wedding procession, which will start at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery and end at Istana Alam Shah.

On September 22, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah announced that Tengku Amir Shah will be marrying Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz on October 2.

According to a statement issued by the Selangor Sultan’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir, the marriage solemnisation ceremony will take place at Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

Munir said the reception and banquet will be held at Balairung Seri and Balai Santapan Diraja, Istana Alam Shah, on October 22.
