KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attendance at the 47th Asean Summit next month has yet to be confirmed.
The Russian Federation's Multilateral Cooperation and Special Projects Department's general-director Nikita Kondratev said the matter is now under consideration in the President’s Office.
“I cannot answer this question directly now. When the decision has been made, the official authorities will inform you about the head of the delegation,” he said after the 14th Asean Economic Ministers’ Consultation with Russia today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended an invitation to Putin to attend the East Asia Summit, which will be held as part of the Asean Summit next month.
He said that Putin was “seriously considering” visiting Malaysia when they met at China’s Victory Day parade in Beijing, China, earlier this month.
Anwar confirmed that United States President Donald Trump and Chinese Premier Li Qiang will be attending the summit.
