SIBU, Sept 23 — The flood situation in Sarawak has fully recovered, with the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Suarah Marudi in Miri officially closed at 9am today.
In a statement, the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) confirmed that the last two evacuees, both from the same family, have returned safely to their home.
Meanwhile, according to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage’s Public Info Banjir portal, the river water level at the Long Teru station continued to recede, recording 8.11m at 12pm, down from 8.19m earlier in the morning. However, it still remains above the danger level of 8m.
A similar downward trend was observed at the Marudi station, with the water level recorded at 3.5m at 12pm, compared to 3.59m this morning. Despite the drop, it remains above the danger threshold of 3.25m.
