GEORGE TOWN, Sept 23 — Several control measures to ensure RON95 petrol subsidies are properly targeted and not misused will soon be introduced by the government, said Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

The steps aim to verify that groups requiring more than 300 litres a month, like e-hailing drivers, are genuinely eligible, with confirmation from their respective companies.

“If eligibility is confirmed, they can apply with company support. We can verify usage through e-hailing system records to ensure the fuel is genuinely used for work.

“The government will also restrict excessive daily usage,” he told the press after launching the National-level Mega E-Invoicing Tour Series 2/2025 today.

Amir added that all Malaysians aged 16 and above with a valid driving licence will be eligible for the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy, or BUDI Madani RON95, capped at 300 litres per month.

Preparations for the subsidy rollout are well advanced, with all oil companies confirming their readiness, including installing machines at petrol stations.

“Machines for in-store use have been provided, and most oil companies have activated systems at payment terminals, usable either inside or outside the stations.

“The preparations are sufficient, but we know nothing is perfect, and new initiatives may face minor challenges. I hope the public can be patient.

"What matters is that the government will honour its promise,” he said.
