Kuskop agencies channel RM200,000 in aid to Sabah disaster victims

PENAMPANG, Sept 19 — Seven agencies under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) have contributed about RM200,000 in corporate social responsibility (CSR) aid to flood and landslide victims in Sabah.

Its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said that 1,907 recipients will receive the aid starting today, in stages, until all have been assisted.

“The aid comprises food baskets, medicines, and other daily necessities, including disposable diapers for disaster victims in Penampang, Kadamaian, and Papar, which began distribution today,” he said in a statement today.

The contributions came from National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun), Bank Rakyat, Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), National Institute of Entrepreneurship (Insken), Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMa), SME Bank, and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas).

Ewon added that Tekun Nasional assisted 500 families in Penampang and Papar, as well as Tekun entrepreneurs affected by the disaster, contributing RM50,000.

SKM contributed 400 food baskets in Penampang and 160 in Kadamaian, worth RM56,000, while Bank Rakyat provided 400 food baskets worth RM40,000 distributed in Penampang.

Meanwhile, Insken distributed aid worth RM10,000 to 127 flood-affected families in Penampang. IKMa delivered 170 food baskets worth RM17,000 in Penampang and Kadamaian, while Pernas contributed 100 food baskets worth RM10,000 to the affected victims.
