PUTRAJAYA, Sept 17 — The Home Ministry (KDN) will begin a test run of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) at Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) in Johor from Monday (September 22) until Feburary 28 next year.
It said the trial run will also be rolled out in phases at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminals 1 and 2, as well as at airports in Bayan Lepas, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu during the same period.
During the trial period, the existing QR code system and MyBorderPass app will continue to be used for immigration clearance.
“However, the public, including foreign visitors, are encouraged to download the MyNIISe app for immigration entry and exit at the designated checkpoints activated during the trial period,” KDN said in a statement today.
The public is also reminded that a valid passport or travel document is still required for immigration clearance through the MyNIISe system, in accordance with the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The NIISe system is a key government reform initiative, and its rollout has been moved up from the original schedule of March 2026.
At the end of the test phase, it will replace the existing QR code system to improve and streamline automatic security checks at the country’s entry points.
The MyNIISe app is available for download on the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, and the Huawei AppGallery.
