SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — The Gombak Parliamentary Service Centre has provided immediate assistance to victims of a fire involving six residential units on the fifth floor of Pinggiran Flats, Taman Pinggiran Batu Caves.
Its Operations officer Jamil Azaman Razak said food supplies were distributed to the victims, while packed meals were given to all personnel involved.
“We have expedited the assistance in the form of food supplies. No temporary evacuation centre (PPS) was opened as all victims chose to stay with nearby family members.
“We will also provide cash assistance tomorrow. So far, only two families were severely affected, while the homes of two other families are being assessed to determine if they are still habitable,” he told Media Selangor when contacted.
It is understood that the remaining two affected units were unoccupied.
In the incident, which occurred around 11am, six residential units measuring approximately 35x25 square feet each were damaged.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the fire was brought under control at 12.11pm, with no casualties reported.
