KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind alert in several states until 6pm today.
In a warning issued at 2.20pm, it said the bad weather is expected to affect Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Yan, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Penang, and Perak.
Similar conditions are forecast to hit Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Besut and Setiu), Pahang (Cameron Highlands), Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, as well as Johor (Mersing).
In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Mukah (Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi) and Limbang, while in Sabah, it involves the interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort).
