MPAJ commits to Ampang Jaya Smart City vision

AMPANG JAYA, Aug 27 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said it is committed to developing the area as a smart city, in line with the Selangor government’s aspirations through its Smart State 2025 agenda.

MPAJ deputy president Hasrolnizam Shaari said the municipality developed the MPAJ Smart City Framework in January 2022 and determined several strategic cores to achieve the goal.

“Among our main achievements since (2022) is installing smart closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in certain locations, building a fibre-optic network, 5G technology, Internet of Things system, public Wi-Fi, smart lights, and city sensors.

“The smart city development is to increase residents’ quality of life using digital technology and data and create a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly city.

“This smart city would also drive local economic growth through innovation and digital transformation and support sustainable development and more efficient public service delivery,” he said.

Hasrolnizam was speaking at the Ampang Jaya Smart City Synergy Convention, which was officiated by state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin at the MPAJ Convention Centre today.

He said the two-day convention is MPAJ’s first time holding an event of that kind, and encompasses seminars, forums and interactive workshops on technology, innovation, economy and language.

“This strategic platform gathers local and foreign participants, including representatives from government and private agencies, academic institutions, entrepreneurs, communities, and technology providers.

“The main goal is to create business and investment networking sessions for participants. A national language colloquium will also be held at the convention,” Hasrolnizam said.

At the same event, the MPAJ signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Theta Telecoms Sdn Bhd for a 20 year concession, covering infrastructure, economic, and smart community initiatives to realise the Ampang Jaya Smart City goal.
