Respect for diversity, Selagor allocates school funding fairly — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 — The diversity of communities living in mutual respect and harmony in Selangor is reflected through the state government’s fair policies.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the spirit is evident in the equal allocation of funds disbursed by the state administration to all types of schools.

“When we provide allocations for schools, we channel them to religious and national schools, but at the same time, we do not forget our friends in Chinese and Indian schools.

“Every year without fail, the state government allocates RM6 million to RM9 million for Chinese schools in Selangor,” he said in a speech at a dinner event celebrating the 91st anniversary of the Teochew Association of Malaysia at Dewan SJKC Pandamaran B, last night.

Amirudin said that since 2009, the Selangor government has channelled RM101 million in aid to Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR), RM72.5 million to Chinese vernacular schools (SJKC), and RM16 million to Chinese private secondary schools.

He stated that Tamil vernacular schools (SJKT) received RM59.6 million, followed by RM6.8 million for missionary schools and RM3.3 million for national and national secondary schools.

Meanwhile, Amirudin touched on how Malaysians value unity and living as one free and sovereign nation.

“As Malaysians, we are open to embracing cultures other than Malay culture that exist here, making them part of the Malaysian identity.

“We must better understand each other so that a sense of togetherness can grow as one big family, creating a just society that lives in peace and harmony,” he added.
