Additional investments show investors' confidence in Malaysia’s economic prospects

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — The additional investments into Malaysia are due to the confidence investors have in the country’s economic prospects, said Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Government policies in supporting the nation’s economic growth gave investors the confidence to make further investments in Malaysia.

“If a factory is not profitable, the investors would not make additional investments. Take Infineon as an example.

"It has factories in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Singapore, and Indonesia. Infineon can easily expand operations in other countries, so why choose Malaysia?

“It is because they have confidence in the country’s economic direction and because we offer attractive incentives to encourage investment in high-technology sectors,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) tonight.

Tengku Zafrul added that the commitment of national leaders like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to meet investors' top management proves that Malaysia is ready to facilitate investment.

This, in turn, builds confidence and accelerates decisions on additional investments by those companies.

“That is why the trade and investment missions abroad, led by the Prime Minister, are important. We want to show that we are serious about attracting their investments.

"These additional investments do not just happen by chance. They are an indicator of investor confidence in the economy and government policies, as well as the result of the country’s leadership’s dedicated efforts to attract and retain quality investments,” he said.
