KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the assault case involving the son of former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.
He said he had conveyed the matter to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
“We have yet to recover from the scourge of bullying in schools, and now we are confronted with another deplorable act — a malicious and treacherous assault on the son of Rafizi Ramli,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
He also prayed for the well-being of Rafizi and his family.
Earlier, Rafizi said that at about 1.45pm, as his son and wife were getting into their car to leave a shopping mall in Putrajaya, a man grabbed the boy and pricked him with a syringe.
He claimed that the assault involved two men on a motorcycle, clad in black attire and helmets.
Following the incident, Rafizi's son was taken to a hospital for treatment.
