Multiple entry visa facility for Bangladeshi workers takes effect today

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 8 — The Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) facility for workers from Bangladesh takes effect today, said the Home Ministry (KDN).

Under this facility, foreign workers from Bangladesh with a valid Temporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS) and Single Entry Visa (SEV) in the current year are not required to submit a separate MEV application.

“The facility will be coordinated by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) at international entry points for holders of valid PLKS. MEV will be issued during the PLKS renewal process in the following year,” KDN said in a statement today.

This initiative will strengthen its capability in managing the legal movement of foreign workers, while reducing the risk of visa misuse through more systematic monitoring.

“It is also expected to ease congestion in visa applications at Malaysian Missions abroad,” it said.

The implementation of this MEV facility reflects Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh, particularly in the area of ethical and regulated labour cooperation.

“It also demonstrates Malaysia’s readiness to enhance facilitation and protection of the rights of lawful foreign workers, in accordance with labour laws and international best practices,” KDN said.
