SHAH ALAM, July 9 — The debate on the Putra Heights gas explosion at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session reflects the state government’s openness and commitment to public safety, said its Speaker Lau Weng San.
He said nine state assemblymen from both sides took part in the discussion, showing a healthy democratic process and willingness to address public concerns.
“This assembly is transparent and broadcast live on social media daily,” he told the press at the lobby of the State Secretariat Building today.
Lau added that the quality of the debate was commendable, with active participation and constructive input from the elected representatives.
Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari tabled a motion on the gas blast incident, which was debated by government and opposition assemblymen, including Sijangkang state assemblyman Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Paya Jaras state assemblyman Datuk Ab Halim Tamuri.
The sitting resumes at 10am tomorrow.
