SHAH ALAM, June 29 — Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S. Preakas hopes the Federal government will extend additional support to help resolve the recurring flood issues and infrastructure damage in the area.
He said that while the state government has remained attentive and provided assistance, addressing the matter comprehensively requires strong cooperation between both the state and Federal authorities to ensure the people's well-being.
“The state government has indeed offered help, but I sincerely hope the Federal government will also give this matter due attention. We have submitted a letter to the Works Ministry requesting repairs to the drains damaged by last year’s floods, but we have yet to receive a response.
“For example, in Bukit Kemuning, roads remain badly damaged since the floods. It is crucial that repair works are expedited to ease the burden on residents,” he told Media Selangor during the Myidentiti programme for the state constituency at Dewan Aster in Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam today.
Preakas added that he intends to raise the flood issue, including an application for financial aid, at the upcoming Selangor State Legislative Assembly session, set to begin on July 7.
“I will also bring up suggestions to improve the disaster relief fund coordination system. Existing aid must be delivered to victims more swiftly and effectively,” he said.
In addition to flood-related concerns, the assemblyman will also address the issue of gas pipeline safety following the explosion incident in Putra Heights on April 1.
“We do not want a similar incident to happen again. Infrastructure safety must be prioritised so that residents feel secure,” Preakas said.
