SHAH ALAM, June 6 — Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah on Wednesday held a Royal Dialogue session at the Malaysian High Commission in London to engage with Malaysian students, professionals, and government representatives based in the United Kingdom.

In a statement, the Selangor Youth Community said the dialogue, themed “Leadership, Youth, and Making an Impact”, focused on Tengku Amir’s personal leadership journey and his vision for empowering the next generation of Malaysians.

“Leadership is not about position; it’s about service. It means listening, staying grounded, and using our influence to build platforms where others can thrive,” said Tengku Amir during the session.

Held in collaboration with the UK and Eire Council for Malaysian Students, and supported by the Malaysian High Commission and Med Salleh Kopitiam, the event was both a homecoming of sorts and a strategic outreach to Malaysia’s diaspora.

Guests were treated to authentic Malaysian refreshments as part of the cultural exchange.

The Royal Dialogue is part of Tengku Amir’s ongoing effort to foster connection between Malaysian youth abroad and national development at home. It also addresses a wide range of issues, from mental health and skills mismatch to inclusive policymaking and civic participation.

His Highness encouraged Malaysians abroad to actively shape the country’s future.

“Malaysians abroad can be powerful bridges — bringing knowledge, networks, and fresh ideas back to local contexts,” he said.

The session also highlighted Tengku Amir’s recent academic pursuits through the Oxford fellowship, which he said deepened his understanding of youth-focused policies and the importance of legacy-building through empathy-driven leadership.

The dialogue reaffirmed Selangor’s commitment to investing in youth potential domestically and globally, while inviting the Malaysian diaspora to be part of a broader movement for national progress.
