SEPANG, June 1 — The Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), to be tabled next year, will include improvements in all aspects, especially for education by increasing funds for Kita Selangor book vouchers.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the extra allocation is in line with rising education costs, especially the prices of reference books.

“Previously, RM200,00 was earmarked for our children to buy reference books, but under the RS-2, we have an increased allocation for funds and voucher recipients.

“Same with the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme, which is free for the community. Selangor is not only developing its physical aspect, but also wants to help people out of poverty with education.

“For the MyLesen B2 programme, the state government has suggested helping participants receive subsidies of RM500-RM1,000 for motorcycle purchases,” he said at the Sepang Municipal Council’s Strata Community Tour at the Taman Putra Perdana food court yesterday, which was attended by state executive councillor for housing and culture Dato’ Borhan Aman Shah.

One thousand Kita Selangor book vouchers were distributed previously, with an allocation of RM200,000. Students from Selangor enrolled in private and public higher learning institutions received the RM200 vouchers from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated).

Meanwhile, Amirudin expressed hope that the people keenly evaluate gazetted programmes meant to help the community.

“We are not looking to be popular or prideful, but to be a responsible state that encourages stable, peaceful living.

“I believe that unity, understanding, and awareness in the community is much needed, and the state government’s programmes bring people together,” he said.
