PUTRAJAYA, May 19 — Airbus has strengthened its footprint in Malaysia with the launch of a new office in Putrajaya, cementing its long-term commitment to the country ahead of the upcoming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2025.
The new office, which will house around 170 employees, is primarily geared towards delivering customer services to regional airline operators, including Flight Hour Services and component support for A330 and A350 widebody fleets.

Airbus Asia-Pacific President Anand Stanley described Malaysia as a crucial part of the company’s strategy in the region.
“Airbus has a long-standing relationship with the country across its commercial aircraft, defence, space, and helicopter businesses. It is our third-largest market in the region after China and India.
“What makes this partnership unique is the breadth of collaboration, from commercial fleet modernisation and defence cooperation, to local industrial participation and skills development. Parts ‘Made in Malaysia’ are flying on nearly every Airbus commercial aircraft in production today,” he said in a statement today.
Malaysia currently operates close to 150 Airbus commercial aircraft, with about 400 more on order.
Key customers include AirAsia, which operates the A320 and the A330, and Malaysia Airlines, which maintains an all-Airbus widebody fleet with the A330neo and A350.
In the defence sector, Malaysia became the first export customer for the A400M airlifter, with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) marking ten years of successful operations this year.

Its fleet of four A400Ms has clocked over 13,000 flight hours. Airbus has also proposed the C295 in both transport and maritime surveillance variants to enhance the country’s strategic capabilities.
The company remains the leading provider of helicopters in Malaysia, with 93 currently in service, including 12 H225Ms, supporting missions like law enforcement, border patrol, medevac, and search and rescue.
Airbus’ industrial presence includes Sepang Aircraft Engineering, a major maintenance, repair, operations (MRO) facility, and a regional helicopter training and support hub in Subang.
It also collaborates with local suppliers across a procurement network valued at US$325 million (RM1.39 billion) annually, supporting high-value jobs and skills development.
Looking ahead, Airbus sees Malaysia as a potential regional leader in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) due to its abundant feedstock and well-established petrochemical industry. It recently signed an agreement with the Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) to research SAF feedstock availability and supply chain viability.
Meanwhile, at LIMA 2025, Airbus will be among the largest international exhibitors.
The A400M aircraft from the German Luftwaffe and RMAF will be on static display alongside the ACH160 corporate helicopter. Two additional RMAF A400Ms will participate in a flying display.
Airbus will also showcase scale models of the A220, the A400M, the H225M, the Pléiades Neo Earth Observation satellite, the Zephyr HAPS, and the Flexrotor UAS at stand B-16.
