KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — Enhancing bilateral cooperation in investment and trade between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia was the main focus of the meeting between Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih.
Tengku Zafrul said the meeting aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Vision 2030 and touched on various potential collaborations between the two countries.
“We discussed a range of potential collaborations, including in the Islamic finance sector, halal industry, renewable energy, construction, hospitality, and technology.
“This meeting underscores our commitment to exploring new opportunities and further strengthening existing economic ties for mutual benefit. InsyaAllah, more successes will follow from this important meeting,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) today.
In a separate post yesterday, Tengku Zafrul said he travelled to Riyadh for the Saudi Arabia Investment and Trade Mission immediately after attending the APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jeju, South Korea.
“Had a productive meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) secretary-general to discuss the great potential of the GCC-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement and the upcoming ASEAN-GCC Forum to be held in Kuala Lumpur.
“We are exploring strategic cooperation opportunities that will benefit both regions,” he said.
