SHAH ALAM, May 18 — As much as 111.3kg of litter was collected at the Serendah waterfall under the Save the Rivers and Plogging Plus event, held by the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS), yesterday.
The MPHS said the campaign, held in collaboration with Plogging Plus+, drew volunteers, Hulu Selangor Community College representatives, MPHS staff, and local residents.
“Litter we found included infant diapers, metal items such as iron and tin, single-use plastic, plastic and glass bottles, polystyrene, fabric, and others.
“The litter we collected will be logged as an effort to survey the amount of waste cleared from this waterfall,” it said in a Facebook post.

The MPHS hoped the event would encourage participants’ love for nature, especially at recreational areas, and preserve the beauty of the natural world.
“The MPHS believes that with cooperation from all parties, we can strengthen efforts to maintain river cleanliness for everyone’s shared well-being,” it said.
Plogging refers to jogging while picking up litter. The practice began in Europe to introduce a more environmentally friendly lifestyle to the public.
