KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, granted an audience to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society's (MRCS) national chairman, the Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and its senior leadership today.
During the audience, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz presented a book, titled 'A Humanitarian Story', to the Queen.
The book, printed by MRCS to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the organisation's establishment in humanitarian service, contains a foreword by Raja Zarith Sofiah, who is also the MRCS Royal Advisor, as well as a collection of Her Majesty’s photos taken while helping people in distress.
“It contains quotes from Her Majesty who joined the Red Crescent as a volunteer in October 2006, and recounts Her Majesty’s experiences in community work, including during the massive flood disaster that hit Johor in December 2006, which affected more than 100,000 residents,” according to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page.
Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz also informed Her Majesty of MRCS’s intention to sell the book to raise funds for the organisation.
During the hour-long audience, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz also updated Her Majesty on current developments and community activities carried out by MRCS, including training provided to volunteers, particularly in managing flood disasters.
