SHAH ALAM, April 21 — Following the government’s move to integrate the motorcycle and car licence theory class, the Driver’s Education Theory Course Curriculum (KPP01), candidates have expressed their appreciation for the step.

Fatin Zafira Mohd Fadhli, 18, said the initiative makes things easier for candidates applying for both types of licences.

“Before this, candidates who want to take both motorcycle and car licences had to join separate theory classes, but unifying the course is a good initiative.

“It saves candidates’ time as they don’t have to take multiple classes,” she said when met by Media Selangor at a driving academy here today.

Driving instructor I. Kethiravan welcomed the move, saying the theory tests for both licences are similar.

“I welcome the government’s decision because as a driving instructor, I’ve seen that the syllabi are almost the same. They only differ from the riding aspect for motorcycles.

“Actually, this initiative had been implemented before, but was suspended after the introduction of automatic car courses. I think it’s good that the theory test has been reunified,” he said.

Meanwhile, Luqman Danial Saridan, 18, said the move would benefit candidates from August.

“This initiative saves candidates’ time and cost as it might be cheaper for them with the unified theory class.

“Plus, candidates don’t have to go back and forth to the driving academy for separate theory classes, and could shorten the time they take to earn their licences,” he added.

On Saturday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced the unified KPP01 for motorcycle and car licence applicants, effective August 1.
